Fernan Lake Village is a jewel with a population of 169 in the last census in 2010 located within walking distance to Lake Coeur d’Alene.
Fernan Lake Village consists of 72 homes, 19 of which are on the Fernan Lake shores. The neighborhood was developed in the 1950s and most of the homes were built in the '60s. They are solid, with good bones, sitting on big lots.
The forested hillside across the lake from this scenic neighborhood is preserved as a park. All residents have access to the lake through a common lakefront lot owned by the secondary property owners. The public boat launch and park are maintained by the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Fernan Lake is a fishing lake, stocked with trout, bass, crappie, channel cats and pike. It freezes over in the winter and is perfect for ice fishing. The neighborhood is regularly visited by a variety of wildlife including ermine, eagles, moose, and deer.
The biggest asset of this neighborhood is the location. Highway 95 is only a couple of miles away, with all the medical, shopping and dining options you could want. Walk a few minutes and you're in downtown Coeur d'Alene, meeting friends for dinner, or listening to live music.
Fernan Lake Village is a very small town. There is no homeowners association, no HOA dues, no CC&Rs. Homeowners are governed by their own set of ordinances and have a city council and mayor. The roads are maintained by the city.
